Program Info

Our award-winning family classes feature a warm, energetic and enthusiastic teacher who leads the class as you gather in a circle to “make music”. We believe that learning should be fun! Even though our classes have a strong educational foundation, we feel that classes should be as enjoyable as possible, so our teachers are also performers.

Siblings can participate together in our Family Classes. We have designed our classes so that children ages infant to five years learn by playing with you and interacting with the other children and teachers. The teachers individualize each class to meet the needs and abilities of the children present. We change activities frequently to respect the children’s attention span and provide plenty of repetition for creativity and learning.

Why is Makin’ Music different from other music programs?
Our CD’s have won more national awards than any other program in the country! We’ve won three Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Audio Awards, a Silver Parent’s Choice Award, A Recommended Parent’s Choice Award, and a Philadelphia Magazine “Best of Philly” award for Children’s Music Classes and also “Best of the Mainline” for our music program. Our music is fresh, original, and loved by parents and children alike. Our audios are recorded and produced at the highest quality using only the best musicians. Folk, rock, jazz, blues, country, original, traditional and ethnic music…you’ll hear all these styles and more in our music. Makin’ Music is on a three year rotation, so families can attend for three years & will receive a new CD for each of these sessions! The CD is included in the tuition price.

Family Classes

Classes feature a teacher who leads the class as you gather in a circle to “make music” by singing, playing instruments and using lots of props to keep your child engaged and interested. The families receive an award winning CD each term with registration. Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes. Families can make-up two classes each session.  Makin’ Music is offered in the fall, winter and spring.  Each session runs for 10-weeks.
